Welcome to Leatherhead Choral Society

Leatherhead Choral Society is a friendly and sociable amateur mixed voice choir of about 70 singers (non-auditioned), based in the town of Leatherhead, Surrey.

We were founded in 1928 and perform two major concerts a year in addition to our annual appearance at the Leith Hill Musical Festival in the Spring, as well as regular Christmas charity concerts and other activities.

In recent years the Society has blossomed, extending our repertoire beyond the classical European tradition to include music inspired by singing traditions around the World. We sometimes sing a cappella, and sometimes with instruments of all types from piano, harp or percussion to large ensembles.

Recent works we have performed include Alexander L'Estrange's Zimbe, Verdi Messa di Requiem, Rossini Petite Messe Solennelle, Handel Dixit Dominus, Vivaldi Gloria, Jenkins The Armed Man, Orff Carmina Burana, Chilcott A Little Jazz Mass and Rutter Feel The Spirit and The Sprig of Thyme.

The choir also enjoys social activities, with events ranging from Monday night trips to a local pub, quiz and social evenings and musical holidays in the Cotswolds.

We rehearse on Monday evenings during term time from 7:45 to 9:45 pm at Christ Church (United Reformed), Epsom Road, Leatherhead KT22 8ST.

Dies Irae
We had a brilliant evening singing Dies Irae to a full house at Dorking Halls. An extraordinary evening. Well done to our friends at Epsom Male Voice Choir, Farnham Youth Junior Choir and Camerata of London. A big thank you to our excellent soloists Sarah Leonard and Richard Bannan.
And of course, none of it would have happened without the inspiration of our MD, Ian Assersohn.
See some of the response to the performance here.

Family Christmas Concert
We will be singing again for our Family Christmas Concert on 17th December, This will be at 4pm at Christ Church (URC). Ticketing and other information are on the Calendar page.
